This kind of writing is often called a personal statement, a statement of intent, or a statement of interest when applying to a job or graduate school. It answers the questions, “what kind of career do you want and why?” and “why are your skills relevant to help you achieve success in this field?” You should use this statement to provide context and evidence for your skills and successes, and reflect on the development of these skills.
